Ten to Follow is back, and also National Hunt lovers have welcomed it. The idea is simple: pick ten horses for the whole period of the Jumps season and score points every time they win races, so with big pots. You can read more about this in our Ten.
From the spirit of things, National Hunt enthusiast Alex Keating and fantasy fanatic has chosen out our ownOddschecker Ten to Follow to consider for your group this year. To set your own stable up and be in with a chance of winning a minimum of 250k, you could register here. Each stable costs #5 to input.
The biggest trouble with pinning this article to Follow is that you are restricted to only ten. It sounds like a good deal, but with over 500 horses to choose from, bonus and points races to weigh upward, paths into the Festival up in the atmosphere and several areas, distances and entrances across the united kingdom and Ireland, theres plenty to consider. This can be a challenge as it leaves you however I guess picking and picking is precisely the essence of the sport.
Do not be surprised then, to see last years leading stayer Paisley Park omitted from my list, that will run on the Friday before points start tallying and I reckon only twice again before the Festival, taking in only a group 1 in Ascot and also a band 2 in January — that is of course assuming hes retained his ability. Champ is another horse I enjoy but am going to exclude here, together with his two runs and 74 day break before Cheltenham last year a major worry, though I really do love his chance from the RSA and can watch him as a big March transfer goal for my own stable.
Since you will notice across my list, Ill be relying on the luck of the Irish, with Christmas in Leopardstown and the Dublin Racing Festival providing a plethora of Grade 1 action for horses to be in the mix come. Although I envision the winner could have too, Ive chosen to not play in the Ladbrokes Trophy and Welsh National Bonus Races. Instead, these horses should give a fantastic account of themselves and rack up plenty of Grade 1s.
Dual Champion Hurdler whos likely still the underrated horse of this 2020 Champion Hurdle market has proved his course occasions and this seems a possibly weak renewal. Has a beautiful Ten to Follow profile given the two tier 1s he can pick up between now and the year around the way. At which I predict Barry Geraghty to catch us off to a 26, nicky Hendersons star hurdler begins his season on Saturday at the Fighting Fifth. I like his Champion Hurdle qualifications also, and really is a particular runner to get a vital bonus race.
Although this French import will provide an end to this run willie Mullins is to acquire the Champion Chase. Chacun Pour Soi has been nibbled at to the Wednesday Festival Feature considering placing the talented Defi Du Seuil to the sword by. Although that kind can be muddled following a Cheltenham, it appears hot with all JLT and the Arkle winners behind and I believe this son of Coverage Maker could lay down the law to Altior come. If he is going to meet his billing, he has Grade 1 admissions and will need to prove himself.
It has not gone unnoticed that Colin Tizzard has yet another celebrity chaser on his palms, and using a Betfair Chase under his belt, this horse has a huge chance going in the King George and Gold Cup come March. Given his participation in such bonus contests is guaranteed, this exceptionally exciting prospect will be on the top of many lists and is mighty hard to exclude, although no horse has finished the Jockey Club Triple Crown since the Kauto Star.
Defi Du Seuil looked more hardy than when putting away a worthy marker in Politologue at Cheltenham on his return, and he has the world at his toes over 2m4f or even 2m this year with his form tying in with all the Gold Cup favorite Lostintranslation. Defi is a favourite for the Tingle Creek, which I believe he could take en route to successes prior to the Festival. The JLT has been Defis 5th run last year so Im of the belief hed love to be kept occupied between now and March. He looks an perfect candidate for my own stable.
A massivehype horse last season who finished too bad to be true from the Champion Hurdle after moving beautifully into contention, Laurina shot to Arkle favouritism and made a welcome return over fences. Together with Punchestown winner Minella Indo comfortably in behind this is a debut over the bigger obstacles and Im firmly of the belief and the Albert Bartlett this mare is going areas this season. Laurina will have to gain experience on fences and will take in a few novice chases en route to this bonus competition to provide back to back winners to Sullivan Bloodstock in the race.
Saldier has been workmanlike, yet powerful impressive when beating last seasons Supreme winner and Champion Hurdle favourite Klassical Dream and so place himself in the mix for the Festivals Tuesday attribute. When he is to establish himself worthy of the step up, he will need to take in a couple of competitions including the incentive Irish Champion Hurdle and that I think he is capable. Obviously weve seen a couple of very good ones and in such silks before.
In which she takes on Benie Des Dieux, henry De Bromheads unbeaten mare will put her credentials. Im confident the extended term of last season Mares Novice Favourite move onto greater things this season after missing Cheltenham with a small issue and will take this Grade 1 competition. I believe Im really enthusiastic about what she could achieve over obstacles this season — a thrilling stable differential and Honeysuckle could be a horse that is forgotten.
The name in my teamsheet was Envoi Allen. The Champion Bumper kind is smoking hot, and Gordon Elliott star made no mistake at Down Royal on his return either. This horse rightly leads the betting for both the Supreme and Ballymore during the time of writing, and although implementing his commerce over 2m so far this year, including from the Gr1 Royal Bond wheres even money preferred at the time of writing, I believe this horse is going to wind up over 2m4f come Cheltenham. Gordon Elliott has said having awakened over this space in his stage to point, I have no doubt in his credentials and that this son of Muhtathir would delight in the step up from trip in a pace perspective. I have him to go this season.
After disappointing season, Samcro created a return to the course above fences this past year and I am eager to have a possibility he is right back into his Festival winning. He was purchased for a chaser and seems that, with all Keith Donoghue remarkingthat he came to life after his return that was seasonal. Samcro must put the Fakir DOudairies in the Grade 1 Drinmore on the opening weekend, and Im certain hell have another season on the way to RSA or the JLT come if he does. Needless to say, you wont win this game.??
Andy Dufresne went together with his slick travelling speed both attributes and jumping at Navan, like a jumbo jet in his return. I am amazed at quotes of 20/1 for your Supreme at time of writing, as though hes been shooting in contests over farther, murmurings from Elliotts County Meath stable indicate that the distance is where he will wind up. Additionally, Id be surprised if they decided to take on their own this year, whilst the pacey hurdling of Dufresne had all the markings of a Supreme winner. JP has another one here.
